6 Benefits of Working with Us

Organization

We will help bring order to your financial life, by assisting you in getting your financial house in order (at both the “macro” level of investments, insurance, estate, taxes, etc., and also the “micro” level of household cash flow).

Objectivity

We bring insight from the outside to help you avoid emotionally driven decisions, by being available to consult with you at moments of decision-making, doing the research to ensure you have all the information, and managing and disclosing any of our own potential conflicts of interest.

Education

We will explore what specific knowledge will be needed to succeed in your situation, by first thoroughly understanding your situation, then providing the necessary resources to facilitate your decisions, and explaining the options and risks associated with each choice.

Proactive

We work with you to anticipate your life transitions and to be financially prepared for them, by regularly assessing any potential life transitions that might be coming, and creating the action plan necessary to address and manage them ahead of time.

Partnership

We attempt to help you achieve the best life possible but will work with you to make this possible, by understanding your background, philosophy, needs and objectives, work collaboratively with you and on your behalf, and offer transparency around our own costs and compensation.

Accountability

We will help you follow through on financial commitments, by working with you to prioritize your goals, show you the steps you need to take, and regularly review your progress towards achieving them.

Who We Are

Martin C. Johnson, JD, RMA®, MBA, CRTP

First of all, I love basketball, especially Golden State Warriors basketball. I love great wine, music, and good conversations. Helping people with their finances is something I have enjoyed for over 23 years because of the impact it has on them and their legacies. My mission is to help those who value good advice and want to spend their time on what’s important to them other than money. Money management and financial planning can be outsourced, spending time with your family and doing the things you enjoy cannot. Unfamiliar with RMA Certification? I have over 32 years in business and 23 years’ experience in financial services advisory. Being a graduate of the University of The Pacific, in Stockton, CA and California State University East Bay, I have deep roots in the Bay Area and Central Valley. Earning a law degree and being a tax practitioner has allowed me a unique perspective that most financial planners don’t have. That perspective has influenced my approach to financial planning to be more than comprehensive, hence the 361 in our company name. 361 implies “greater than three hundred sixty degrees” or “something extra.”

My previous experience includes the position of Financial Planner for Prudential Insurance; Regional Vice President for USAllianz Investor Services, LLC; Agency Owner, Allstate Insurance Co; and Financial Advisor for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

In addition to volunteering for various community and civic organizations over the years, I have served on School Site Councils and on a city Planning Commission. In July 2018, I became the Chairman of the Alameda County Leadership Council of the American Red Cross. Currently, I’m member of the Professional Advisor Leadership Council of the East Bay Community Foundation.

With a wife of 23 years and two children, God has been good to me. My daughter is a graduate of San Domenico School in San Anselmo, and now attends Carleton College in Minnesota, and my son is a graduate of The Athenian School in Danville, CA, and will attend Seattle University in the fall of 2019.
